Over There and Over Here: The Local African-American Experience During WWI In-Person

Celebrate Black History Month and the anniversary of World War I with this 2pm program in the Bloomington Public Library Community Room. During World War I, several dozen Bloomington-Normal residents fought in an African-American regiment reputed for its bravery and ferocity. They became known as the "Black Devils" by the Germans. Bill Kemp, the Librarian and Archivist for the McLean County Museum of History, will present an illustrated lecture about local black soldiers in "the war to end all wars."
