The Building of the Illinois Central Railroad In-Person
This 3pm program in the Bloomington Library Community Room, will highlight the reasons for and challenges of building the first major railroad in Illinois. Why was it built? Where was it built? How was it built? How did the Illinois Central Railroad change the state's population and identity? What part did Abraham Lincoln play in IC history? Historian Don Chamberlain will tackle these questions. This program is one of the Library’s Lincoln’s Festival in Bloomington offerings.
