Learn About Evergreen Cemetery & the 2018 Cemetery Walk In-Person

Candace Summers, McLean County Museum of History’s Director of Education and lead coordinator for the annual Evergreen Cemetery Walk, will present a history of Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, its monument styles, architecture, and symbolism. Attendees of this 7pm program in the Bloomington Library Community Room will learn about the Cemetery Walk’s history and the people who will be featured on this year’s walk -- people who were chosen in celebration of the state’s Bicentennial. Since 1824, when people began settling what would become McLean County, the area and its citizens helped shape the state: the first public university in Illinois, Abraham Lincoln’s rise to the Presidency, agricultural innovations, and internationally known circus performers. McLean County citizens have made an indelible mark on the state’s history.
